The Department of Defense Warrior Games is an annual event, first held in 2010, that celebrates the resiliency and dedication of wounded, ill, and injured active duty and veteran U.S. military service members. In 2023, the DoD will introduce the Warrior Games Challenge, taking place at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, Calif.
This micro-internship is with Populous who designs the places where people love to be together. There are multiple divisions such as architecture, interior design, landscape design, sustainability, brand activation, way-finding, etc. The division you will be involved with is the Events division.is behind the scenes of this multi-day championship delivering the event invisibly. Headsets and face-to-face teamwork grease the wheels of communication. They think three steps ahead, neutralizing potential issues and helping the event goes off without a hitch. Populous touches all facets of the Warrior Games, from the games themselves to the entertainment, security, medical and hospitality events that lead up to them. Long days turn into late nights, but the surest sign of a successful Warrior Games is how much fun we have together. It takes chemistry and camaraderie to solve complex problems or avoid them altogether.
MICRO-INTERNSHIP ROLES
First and foremost, you are passionate about events with a purpose and want to serve military service members in this extraordinary event. There are many roles and you can comment on any role you are interested in (we will look into making your wish come true).
- FieldXperience will select high performing students/emerging talent with interest and experience with facility logistics, design, engineering, and game operations.
- You will job shadow and be a functional part of the team willing to do any task and report into Populous supervisor.
- You will have proven skills in coach-ability, initiative, flexibility, adaptability, endurance, resourcefulness and problem-solving.
- Key roles include assisting design, commodities, signage and more.
